Annual Elections

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

If you would like your name to be on the ballot for a board position for 2011 you must submit your name and contact information to our Secretary, Steve Slack by September 1st, 2010. Any request to be on the ballot after that date cannot be accepted.

The Annual Meeting is currently scheduled for Monday October 11th, 7:00 PM at Westlink Christian Church.

Wanted

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Architectural Chair – This is a full board position.  You would be required to attend a monthy board meeting, annual meeting and coordinate meetings with the rest of the architectural committee.  There are currently members on the committee, but the latest chair has moved and we need to find a replacement for him.

Recreation Chair – Please don’t think that neighbors are calling all the time to take on this position.  We have not had anyone say they would be interested.  This is a position that requires only a little time mostly in the summer.  As with most positions you are compensated with a lower dues bill.

Commons Ideas – If you know of areas that are being neglected in the commons area please contact our commons chair, Todd Hawkins thawkins@bradfordha.org.  He would also appreciate knowing any projects that might need attention at the fall workday.

At the annual meeting in October 2009 neighbors mentioned that they would be happy to help more with the pool.  If you are still interested in that please contact Cherryl Cox ccox@bradfordha.org.  At this writing the amount or kind of help needed has not been decided yet but hopefully will be by the time you read this newsletter.

Pool Shade Structure – The shade structure at the pool appears to need some repairs or replacement.  We would like to have ideas on what direction we should take with this project.

If you would like to respond about any of these items you can contact us through our website at www.bradfordha.org.

Pool

Friday, May 21st, 2010

If you are new to the neighborhood and were left a pool key by the previous owner, that key should not work on the pool gate.  You will need to contact Don Mallonee to sign a copy of the pool rules and obtain a new key.  If you have lost a pool key, you may purchase a replacement for $20.00.

General Pool RulesThere will be no lifeguard on duty. Persons using the pool and pool area do so at their own risk.  City code requires that “Children 15 & under Shall Not Use Pool without an Adult in Attendance.” (Ord. No. 41-146 § 7).  Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate suspension of pool access for 15 days.  Unattended swimming puts the insurance policy of the Association at risk.

The following shall not be permitted: disorderly conduct, including running and rough-housing; glass items; alcoholic beverages; jeans or cutoffs; pets in the pool area; profane or abusive language and swimming in the pool before or after posted hours.

Trash Contract

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

You may have noticed that the latest trash bill went up to more than $50.  Our contract with them was up and they increased the price.  We have negotiated a new contract and your next bill should be $47.37/ 3 months of service. Recycling services are also available for $11.25/ 3 months.

If you don’t currently use Waste Connections and would like to switch call them at 838-4920 and then press ‘4’ for residential services.  Please make sure to tell them you live in Bradford.  This reduced rate is only for our neighborhood.

Lakes and Commons

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Taking care of the lakes and commons takes a lot of work and not just from the landscaping/mowing company. Below are some tips for keeping our lakes clean and can also help with common areas.

  1. Pick up after your pets.
  2. Use commercial car washes. They are more efficient and have mud traps that catch oil and sediment.
  3. Maintain your vehicles so that there are no leaks of automotive fluids such as oil, antifreeze and fuels.
  4. When working on the lawn or in the garden:

*Follow the label directions on insecticides very carefully.
*Use compost and natural fertilizers pesticides when you can.
             *Use slow release fertilizers
*Pull weeds by hand as an alternative to chemicals.
*Don’t apply products if rain is predicted.

Pet waste has recently been a complaint in several areas around the neighborhood. There are common areas between neighborhoods where people are allowing their pets to run free and not picking up after them. These areas are used by children and families to play. Please be courteous and clean up after all pets.

The entrances have also seen a lot of trash and debris that needs to be picked up. Cleaning up these areas is everyone’s responsibility. Help keep Bradford Beautiful!
